Mitt Romney to a Crowd in Detroit: “My wife drives two Cadillacs.”

Mitt Romney - Poll Numbers Falling

Mitt Romney, speaking to the Detroit Economic Club, was in Pander-Mode and figured he’d brag about his wife’s pair of Caddies. Nothing wrong with buying your old lady a couple of land-yachts, but most strategists would likely agree that you shouldn’t mention it when speaking to a middle class audience. As a presidential candidate, it is important to only draw attention to aspects of your life that the typical voter could relate to – especially during a time of heightened distrust for the wealthy. This follows a previous gaffe by Romney in which he offered to make a $10,000 bet with Rick Perry. He also said “Corporations are people” and he loves to fire people.

I actually love this state. This feels good being back in Michigan. You know, the trees are the right height, the streets are just right. I like the fact that most of the cars i see are Detroit-made automobiles. I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pickup truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs. I used to have a dodge truck, so I used to have all three covered.
